The Importance of Frequent Emotional Check-ins

It's important to check in with yourself regularly to stay on top of your mental and emotional health. Today, I noticed that I wasn't feeling as confident as usual and I was talking way too much. I KNOW this was because I had been pushing myself past my limits, and exhaustion was starting to catch up to me. It showed in my body language and the way I was presenting myself.

We as humans try to push past exhaustion because we often feel a sense of accomplishment when we are able to accomplish a task or goal despite feeling tired and exhausted. We also often feel a sense of pride and satisfaction when we are able to push past exhaustion and persist in order to achieve a goal. Additionally, pushing past exhaustion can be necessary in order to achieve success or to accomplish something important.

Pushing yourself past exhaustion is not worth it because it can lead to burnout, which can be detrimental to your mental and physical health. While it may seem like you're getting a lot done, the long-term effects of burnout can be damaging and can lead to a decrease in confidence. It is important to take breaks, rest, and listen to your body when it needs it. Taking care of yourself and practicing self-care can lead to feeling more confident and successful in the long run.

My entire life I lived well past exhaustion. I always felt like I had to work more. Come to find out, I am good enough. I dont have to work 14 hours a day. I woke up in 2020 and decided to rest more. Today I didn’t feel confident and it was a clear reminder of why I am not continuing down this path. The following symptoms were part of my every day life:

-Fatigue and exhaustion

-Loss of motivation and focus

-Emotional distress and depression,

-Digestive issues

-A terrible memory

-Loss of interest in everything

-Feelings of guilt and helplessness

-Social withdrawal and isolation

This means I will go back to focusing on getting enough rest, eating healthy and nutritious meals, engaging in regular physical activity, and making time for activities I enjoy. The consequences were not worth it!!! By checking in with myself regularly, I can ensure that I stay balanced and energized. Being congruent with yourself is the key to confidence! It’s been my personal magic wand!
