On Letting Go

The past can be a hard thing to let go of. It can be difficult to accept that the things that happened in our lives, both good and bad, are now over and done with. We may find ourselves stuck in a cycle of constantly reliving memories or trying to work out how things could have been different. However, it is important to allow ourselves to move on from the past and focus on the present. In order to let go emotionally of the past, it is important to accept what has happened and to forgive ourselves and others. It can be helpful to take the time to reflect on the experience and to learn from it. We should be kind to ourselves and not blame ourselves for what happened. We can choose to focus on the positives that can be taken from any situation. Finally, it is imperative to practice self-care. What does this mean though? It means showing up for yourself and being congruent with yourself. This can be as simple as checking your mail when you said you would or as routine as a daily workout. It is important to look after our mental and physical health, as this can help us to move forward and create a better future. Taking the time to focus on ourselves and the present can help us to gradually let go of the past and move into a place of peace and acceptance.
